Danny Sherwinter, MD
Dr. Danny Sherwinter is the director of minimally Invasive and bariatric surgery at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In addition, he is the program director of the Maimonides advanced GI minimally invasive surgery fellowship program.
Dr. Sherwinter is the recipient of multiple research grants and is widely published in the peer reviewed literature. He has authored multiple book chapters and has presented his work at both national and international meetings. He has been interviewed by the New York Times for his expertise. Under his leadership, the Division of Bariatric/Weight-Loss Surgery at Maimonides received the Bariatric Center of Excellence designation from the SRC and has obtained MBSAQIP accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.
Dr Sherwinter is also a surgical innovator, having been involved in some of the pioneering work into the benefits of near infrared angiography and cholangiography for prevention of anastomotic leak and bile duct injury respectively. Dr Sherwinter is also the holder of multiple patents in both the US and abroad.
